Santa Monica Fire Chief Jim Hone (Retired)

On April 19, 1995, a large vehicle borne improvised explosive device was detonated in front of the nine story Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK. The blast resulted in 782 injured victims and 168 fatalities. Santa Monica Fire Chief Jim Hone (retired) was the Interior Operations Chief responsible for directing and coordinating the rescue and recovery activities inside the building during the first ten days following the explosion. Jim shares detailed information about the local and federal emergency response to this incident.
